Can You Imagine?

Imagine a place where people will move from spiritual darkness to light. Where they will experience that indescribable joy of being born again into God's family. Where they will feed and thrive on God's Word. Where they will rejoice in the Lord's goodness at weddings, receptions, graduation celebrations, seminars and spiritual retreats. Where they will worship God in spirit and truth. When we look out from the balcony of Kingdom View Ministry House to the pavilion construction, that is what we see. Just across the road from Uganda Christian University, we see the vision coming alive step by step. Can you picture it? If so, please help this vision come to pass. We need $12,541 to finish the electrical, plumbing, plastering, painting, window, doors, ceilings, railings and drainage grates. After completing this phase we start furnishing the facility and will provide additional information. UPDATE 12/21: ALMOST THERE! JUST $2,614 NEED TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION. Construction of Pavilion Underway

Charles (contractor), Mark, Margaret and Moses The construction of the pavilion began on April 15th at Kingdom View. Thank you for supporting the exciting work we do in Uganda through your prayers, finances and encouragement. We are receiving daily pictures from the team and great communication and accountability. This is what we call practical empowerment of our team. We leave on May 22nd to return to Uganda and are excited to see the progress. Our architect Mike Reid met with the team to kick off the project and things are on schedule.  Mike and Moses reviewing plans All the deliveries of the materials for the foundation are on site and Christopher, the Rock Coordinator reports, "everything is accounted for and checked into the container." We are proud of the staff for their documentation and being pro-active in handling the minor challenges with any construction project. Moses our Ugandan board member/engineer has been available to answer any questions from the construction team. We continue to pray for bookings in the guest rooms to lay a foundation for funding ministry operational expenses locally. Please share with your friends coming to Uganda the links. Expanding Kingdom View

First of all thank you for supporting the work we do in Uganda through your prayers, finances and encouragement. We are off to a strong start in 2019 and wanted to share the progress we are making. April 15th we begin construction of the pavilion foundation at Kingdom View. The architect has completed all the drawings, the city has approved the building permit and before we left Uganda in February we ordered the materials for the foundation.

Phionah and Moses

We are fortunate to have an engineer on our Ugandan board(The Rock Kingdom LTD) and he has already begun to oversee the project. Previously he assisted us with the road up to the property. Moses Nawaha and his wife Phionah are a real blessing to us. 

He also leads our cell group in Watoto Church, the church we attend in Uganda.  While in university he was the "Papa" for Life Ministries Uganda (CRU) at Kyambogo University. 

Proscovia and John

God has blessed us with two excellent men on the board. John Ggayi Bugembe is a business man and small group leader for Bible Study Fellowship International in Kampala. His wife, Proscovia and all of his college age children attend BSF International as well. 

His reputation for advising church members and widows in particular and their families on construction projects has extended to Kingdom View. The subcontractors we used on the ministry house had worked with John for many years. The result was completing the project on time and all original items on budget. John was also our landlord in 2005 when we first lived in Uganda.

Christopher

Christopher Byomire began January 2019 as our Kingdom View Hospitality Coordinator. He is responsible for overseeing the day to day activities such as Bible studies, understanding our practical God-given skills, helping to write resumes. In addition he works with our board members and advisory members implementing ministry objectives. Christopher is busy coordinating use of the ministry house facility/welcome porch, maintenance, bookings of the guest house rooms, promoting opportunities to fellowship groups and tracking all expense receipts. For the last 4 years, we have mentored Christopher. We first got to know him as a student then disciple.  As a professional with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration he worked last year for a US Non-Profit overseeing drilling 150 water wells. He understands our expectations and has been fully trained in all aspects of the ministry and discipleship. While on campus he was very involved with Navigators.

"You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:1-2)

We are encouraged by our team and the progress they are making. Each time we return to the U.S. we delegate more responsibility so the transition is gradual. This way we are able to handle challenges as they say in Uganda "slowly by slowly," empowering the team in practical ways.

For Ugandan leadership to be firmly established, it is necessary for the ministry to be financially secure. The goal is to be sustainable in Uganda by Ugandans while continuing to work with The Rock Outreach in the US.

Being A Light On the Hill

Dear friends by God’s grace, Kingdom View Ministry House is a year-round light display on the side of Prayer Mountain in Mukono Uganda. We don’t have a fancy multi-colored Christmas display (just security lights visible from afar) but we do have the inextinguishable light of Jesus. 

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:14-16) 

Lights are an apt commemoration for Jesus’ birth, as He is the Light of the world (John 9:5) who in the beginning spoke light into the world (John 1:3, Gen 1:3) and in eternity His brilliance will replace the light of the sun and moon (Rev 21:23). His birth was announced to shepherds by the angel Gabriel while “the glory of the Lord shone around them” and the wise men were guided to Him by a star. In His glorified state His face is “like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” (Rev 1:16)

At Kingdom View, we teach uncompromisingly the Word of God which became flesh through Jesus (John 1:14). God has shown us much fruit but the battle against the dark forces in the culture of corruption, false teaching, and sexual immorality and abuse wages on. “The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” (John 1:5) “And this is the test by which men are judged--the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than they loved the Light, because their deeds were wicked.” (John 3:19) 

We are blessed that through the power of God and generosity of people like you, we press ahead for further victories in Jesus’ name. “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” (John 12:46)

Empowering Paul's Way

While we anticipate being a part of Kingdom View for many years to come, the Lord has guided us to take steps now to empower Ugandan leadership over the ministry.

The steps include practical implementation of the vision by the team. Our last meeting we discussed decisions pertaining to the finances and a solution driven approach always inquiring of the Lord every step of the way.

Any change or transition can be difficult, particularly in Africa where leaders rarely cede power willingly.

Fortunately, God is faithful and has provided us a great handbook in preparing the next crop of leaders through the writings of the Apostle Paul in the books of 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy.

"Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you - guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us." 2 Timothy 1:14 

Paul was in a Roman prison nearing the time of his execution as he penned his final letter to his beloved spiritual son Timothy, the young pastor of the church at Ephesus.

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth," Paul continued in 2 Timothy 2:15. 

"You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:1-2) 

We like to call this the "Jesus model." Jesus poured Himself into 12 disciples and entrusted them to spread the Gospel to the world.

The ministry has been blessed with a strong core of disciples who have participated in our teachings and activities and are ready to step up as ministry leaders themselves. They are now young professionals in international business, banking, law, and accounting and serve on the Kingdom View Advisory Committee along with our board members. Understanding the benefits of the ministry, they have agreed to volunteer to lead different areas of the ministry.

The team includes our Ugandan Board members John Ggayi Bugembe and Jonathan Tumwebaze; Advisory Committee members Blessing Goodman Amanya, Joel Basoga, Jesse Mugero, Joshua Muwanguzi, Irene Tinka and Judith Tubihomwe.

Blessing and Judith will lead the cooking and jewelry making activities. Joel will facilitate with John, one of the Rock board members, the God's Way Training. Jesse and Jonathan, another board member, will do Identity in Christ studies such as Pursuit of Holiness and Victory Over the Darkness. Irene will lead the crafts business training. Joel and Joshua will mentor and assist with fundraising, along with doing CV/career counseling. The team will rotate facilitating Saturday night movies.

For Ugandan leadership to be firmly established, it is necessary for the ministry to be financially secure with a goal of being sustainable in Uganda by Ugandans while continuing to work with The Rock Outreach in the US.

In a move toward funding ministry operational expenses locally, we will begin expanding services at Kingdom View Ministry House in February by offering high quality guest house services. This is consistent with our long-term plans for Kingdom View and the biblical concept to "practice hospitality" (Romans 12:13) More details will be forthcoming.

We continue to pray for funds for the Kingdom View Pavilion. We have raised about $10,000, with another $10,000 needed to begin construction. An additional $10,000 will be needed to fully equip it with furnishings, kitchen and audio-visual equipment. The pavilion is vitally needed not only for teaching, training and worship, but also to provide another income source as a special event venue (wedding receptions, etc.). Would you consider making an additional donation to help with the pavilion?
